I Am A Friend 2021

Commissioned by Artforce Iowa and Department for the Blind, this 24’ x 8’ mural hangs in the Des Moines skywalk system. Each child is seen inside of their own circle in the forest – outside of their circles being dark and difficult to see. The circles they are sitting in vaguely resemble eyes. The darkness of the forest serves as a metaphor for blindness. Even in the dark of the forest, you are still able to “see” the friendship. A description of the mural is available in braille next to the mural.
